Novell's SLED Gnome Menu on Ubuntu

I'm sure most everyone has seen this but for those who haven't.

HOWTO Install Novell's Modified Gnome menu and contol Center on Ubuntu.

It looks pretty nice. Do you find it functional?

Also where could one get that mplayer skin?

At first I didn't like it. Now I love it!
It's fresh, clean and I prefer it over the standard Gnome menu.
I like being able to add programs to the "Favorite Applications" screen. I also like that Beagle is intergrated into the menu. I prefer that over the Gnome desklet-bar panel applet. I just love the way that the Control Center is all organized by groups.

Yeah, like all new things, it takes a little getting used to, but this one I think is a great thing gettign yourself adjusted to.

If you see my last screenshot I am running SLED 10. I signed up with novell to get updates and have used packman's repo for all the goodies. It has been on my laptop for over a week and I really like it.

Everyone is aware that you can achieve a similar menu set-up with plain ol' KDE 3.x and Konqueror with the use of "View Profiles"... In this screenshot I have two instances of Konqueror running for demonstration purposes.

In fact, from what I see in the Ubuntu screenshots, Konqueror is even more configurable all on its own.

Just an observation on my part.

Ya, I did know that.... I just prefer Gnome. KDE still has a menu like windows though. The whole click the menu then go to the next menu then the next menu then launch the app. In your screenshot of Konqueror... GNOME's Nautilus does the same thing with the "Places" menu. Yes I do agree KDE and Konqueror is way more configurable then GNOME. I still prefer the look and feal of GNOME.... Just my openion.

Yup. It's all about what you (the individual) prefers to work with.

I just thought I'd mention the Konqueror thing in case others weren't aware it could be set-up in such a way.

I should also mention that this is Konqueror... so if you're using Gnome or XFCE or IceWM or something else, this menu is still available to you no matter what desktop environment you're using. As long as it can run Konqueror, you're set.
