Linux Podcasting is heading South

Post by johnnywtllts » Sun Jul 16, 2006 5:07 pm

With Lotta Linux Links in South Carolina, Linux Reality in North Carolina, and now TLLTS soon broadcasting from Virginia, it would appear that the southeast US is becoming the center of the Linux Podcasting Universe.

I just wanted to give Dann and others a heads-up about an incident that happened to me this weekend, here in the Triad region of North Carolina.

I was accosted by a group (gang?) of locals in a Walmart parking lot. They were apparently Windows users, as they soon told me, running either ME or a shared copy of XP corporate edition that one of them had downloaded on BearShare. They all had the same strange hair-cut (short in the front and long in the back) and were either shirtless or wearing a T-shirt with the number "3" on it (I took it that this was something to do with their gang). The rest of their garb can be best categorized as circa 1983.

They had apparently noticed the Ubuntu bumper sticker on my truck and wanted to let me know that they "don't take kindly to you free and open types". They had surrounded my truck and it was beginning to look serious. I quickly fumbled for the local Classic Rock station and turned up the volume. Thank God!, it was 38 Special! They immediately fell away from my vehicle in involuntary air drum and/or guitar convulsions while a few of them began fighting each other.
Needless to say, I barely escaped.

Just wanted Dann to be aware of these types, as they may have affiliates in the VA Tidewater region.

BTW, there is another similar gang I have heard of in the more well-to-do areas of the South. They can apparently be identified by pull-over shirts with emblems embroidered on the chest, driving Swedish or German automobiles and carrying white computers. The risk of trouble with this group can be minimized by avoiding any upscale shopping establishments.

Seriously though,... Welcome

Wow that's pretty insane. I know at least 2 of my friends carry a knife on them at all times for protection. Maybe I should too. At least I have had some martial arts training and my sparing skills are pretty good. Although the worst I have ran into are just a few Windows fanboys but they are easy to take care of if you use big words like modular, dynamic linking, kernel, etc  Although my high school programming teacher was harder to get rid of, always trying to say bad things about Linux and then I would correct him and then he would read something else of the microsoft site and come at me again

Anyways glad you escaped, it's pretty sad that people will fight over something they probably know very little about.
