I think this are some suggestions I have been keen into telling you guys, most of the demographic of TLLS are Linux Desktop users so why not focus on the desktop part of Linux.

A serious part of the desktop is the apps, so why not making an section devoted to apps and Desktop Enviroment news.

For example comment on the latest GNOME (gnomedesktop.org) and KDE (news.kde.org) posts. A good roundup of this news usually put apps on the map.

Another point will be to test hardware and maybe release some TLLTS certified hardware, I know u guys cant buy all the hardware in the world but if you do the one you have come around and open the rest to the listeners I think we can come up with a functional Database for the guys who want to buy hardware.

Use http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/. It would be a mistake to create our own since LinuxQuestions.org is doing a good job with it and making our own would have the information spread out making it harder to find compatible hardware for users which would not be in Linux's best intrest.

I didn't get the last part, how will spreading the knowlege of which hardware will work on any linux be harmful for Linux?

I think this list should be replicated in every language, every site out there since hardware support is the greatest challenge for linux adoption.

IE. If I am a system builder and I want a complete off the box linux supprted hardware, but I dont speak english how will this centralized information help me?

Then again, I look at HCL but the Navigation is awful, since is based on the forum.

It wont. I was saying it would be better if the information is unified so users won't have to jump through hoops to find it.

I agree having a unified centrilized place for that info like what the linux doc project is about. what we need is a linux hardware compatibility project

I don't think so, I think in areas like this, duplication is better. In the commercial world you have reviewers duplicating their recomendations. A certified hardware is nothing but recomended hardware. The more widespread this information is through the net the less hoops is to get this information.

Is like having 7/11 on each corner of the US vs. having 1 7/11 in the whole US.

Anyway two trains of thought.

I can only use babelfish if I already know what is about. Not just that but after knowing which hardware will work the next question is 'where can I get it' and here is something that LQ will never be able to provide regional spoting of HW.

Which means a LUG will qualify to build this since being local have the advantages to make it available.
