The American Media is corrupt

I feel like I'm in the middle of an Orwellian Newspeak blizzard.

CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, CNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC... I've been flipping around all the channels and the view that comes through almost in unity is that the failure to pass this bailout bill was a failure of government. I've heard over and over that it was just a PR problem that failed to explain why this is necessary for Main Street. That it didn't pass because politicians didn't have the courage to pass a "needed" bill that was unpopular with the "simple minded and ignorant" masses. I almost never heard the view expressed that this was a triumph of democracy, and income redistribution from the poor to the criminally wealthy was rightly averted.

Funny how our consolidated and corporate owned big media managed to so effectively and unanimously get this point of view out.

Wall Street is not finished yet. They will, through the aid of their lobbyists and support of our corporate controlled media, manage to steal the billions from us that they gambled away.

When I heard that the bailout bill was defeated yesterday I was pretty shocked. The media was hyping up this whole thing so much in the days leading up to it, I thought passage was a foregone conclusion. I realize our financial system is essentially broken right now, and if not fixed we will likely end up with a depression, but I can't help but feel a certain type of satisfaction knowing the people on Wall Street who fucked up aren't going to get any help from the government.

I'd almost like to just wait and see what happens if the government sits back and does nothing. If the bailout did go through, it could very likely make things even worse by tripling inflation and adding another trillion to the deficit. I think the long term effects of this bailout would be so severe, it's not worth the short term benefits. Either way it seems like a lose lose situation.

Absolutely right. We've been creating debt to pay back debt so long in this country it's time we finaly just play it streight. I'm stock piling food...not really but maybe I should be.

Our government doesn't know diddly-squat about "doing nothing". They will do something, good or bad, because they have been conditioned (or they are conditioning us) to believe that new legislation of any type will solve whatever they say is a problem.
