Questions for Mandrake founder Gael Duval
I've lined up Gael Duval for an interview. Gael has requested we pre-record the interview as he believes his English isn't strong enough to quickly answer questions on the fly. He's also asked us to give him some questions ahead of time.

Q: How do you feel about Mandriva violating the GPL by the inclusion of proprietary drivers? Sure a lot of distros include them, but that doesn't make it less of a copyright infringement. Sure a lot of teenagers downloads unauthorized music off of P2P networks, but just because a lot do it, doesn't make it less of a copyright infringement.

Just remind everyone Gael was terminated by Mandriva some time ago. He now has his new company:

I would be much more interested in his current Ulteo project. I am Much less interested in anything relating to mandrake or his stance on other issues.
Any questions that flush out exactly what Ulteo is, what it's goals are, what makes it different and better in his opinion.

I agree. Ultreo is the most interesting topic to hear him talk about. But I would also enjoy hearing his thoughts on Mandriva/Mandrake both historically and its current outlook.hellonorman wrote:I would be much more interested in his current Ulteo project. I'd like to comment that I've been running Mandriva 2007 on one system for a few months now, and I've really been enjoying it.
An interesting feature of Mandriva is "LinDVD," a dvd/video player made by Intervideo, the company that makes WinDVD. It works great, but the first time I used it, it set the region code of my DVD drive! I did not like that! So I stopped using it and went back to mplayer.
Currently running Crunchbang 8.10.02
