streeming media

I am running a small network here @ home all systems run linux 1 a dual boot with xp. I am planing to set up a streeming music possible video server for our network. I would like to set up a web frontend to choose what each p[ersion would like to listen to as well as controll the content to the sterio that would be pluged into said server. I have no knowlage on this topic and any help would be aprechiated. Also I have been lisening to the last 4 shows and it's awsome. keep it up guys.
