ABI Research believes that 2012 will see the tipping-point at which netbooks running Linux-based and mobile operating systems outnumber those running Windows XP

I just got my asus netbook. Unfortunately I had to buy one with winbloze$ installed. I never booted it with that os, I immediately installed eeebuntu. This causes me to think, I know dangerous. I wonder how many other netbooks have been sold with winbloze$ where it has never been booted. I bet more than one.

That sounds like the most asinine statistic ever. I certainly hope that is the case because by then Windows 7 will be what, 3 years old and XP will be about 10. There is no reason they should be selling netbooks with XP on them anymore. Hell, I'd figure netbooks running XP should be off the shelves sometime in 2009.

That's like saying in 2009, Desktops selling with Linux pre-installed will outsell Desktop selling with windows 2000 pre-installed.

I'm sure consumers will be like "FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!!!" with regards to moving off of Windows XP, "people hate change" as Aaron Seigo once said.

Am I still the only one who thinks Windows 2000 is still the best operating system that Microsoft ever created ?

I think XP SP2 is, but ...Windows 2000 has no WGA, a good amount of modern apps can run on it and it runs great on little ram and slower machines. Windows 2000 is a underrated OS that deserves more respect.

Yeah, a friend of mine and I once ran it on a machine with 32 MB of RAM, took forever to boot, but once it ran, it was pretty usable.

It just boggles my mind how Microsoft can create something like Windows 2000 and screw it up so bad that they end up with a turd like Vista. I swear if we were living in feudal Japan, the people who did Vista would be sentenced to hara-kiri!
