TWIT Linux Haters Audio Clips

You asked Dann a couple times to just play the clips straight through. A better approach would have been to play them all, then go back, play them one by one and discuss. By splitting them up it lacked the punch it could have had. The whole thing got watered down. I think we need to check Dann's bank account for TWIT deposits,

.
Pat, can you make the sound clips available for download? Possibly put together as one clip?

Ask and you shall receive:
http://pdavila.homelinux.org:8080/twit_linux_haters.ogg
The clips were from MacBreak Weekly #55 and Windows Weekly #18. Imagine how many more I would of found had I spent more than a few minutes looking.

You'd probably need BitTorrent to effectively distribute a collection of those!

I doubt you would find much more because neither show talks much about linux anyway. The hack job you did of extracting those windows weekly clips is pretty funny. If you listen to that segment in it's entirety Paul talks of things he likes about linux as well.

Really. I randomly pick 2 episodes and hit the jackpot. As far as my clips being a hack job, I didn't manually put words together and make up sh|t. These guys said what they said. People were asking for examples and I did so with minimal effort. I cited the original recordings. People are free to listen to them if they'd like.

You found two minutes of audio out of hundreds of hours of programming, hardly a jackpot.
I believe that you randomly picked those episodes about as much as I believe you don't listen to them in the first place.

No you just manually skipped all context and hacked together clips that were sometimes said minutes apart. But nothing wrong with that when you want to manufacture a point huh?

Yes they did. They backed them up with reasoning also. You barely said two words when it came down to discussing the clips on your show.
People are free to listen to them if they'd like.
I hope they do.

Believe what you want.

I merely cited examples of Linux and F/OSS bashing from two TWIT shows. The speakers words are their own. Nothing manufactured. Manufactured would of been piecing together different sentences word by word. I didn't do that.

I think we discussed it long enough. Barely 2 words? Who's making up sh|t now?
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion some are more reasonable than others. My opinion isn't worth less than theirs. People should decide on their own.
hellonorman wrote:I hope they do.
At least we can agree on that.

Ok you stick to that story.
But it's pretty clear you were desperately trying to back up your claim of "recent" linux bashing by un-randomly poaching audio from year and half old shows and splicing them together.

The only "we" was Dann and Linc. When it came down to discussing the clips you had barely two words to say.

Pat, I'll back you. I listened to all those shows myself, and the level of Linux and open source bashing was on the rise. They used to be informative until they started displaying their ignorance. It got to the point where the shows were becoming propaganda and lost all value. You can tell propaganda when they start making generalizations which just aren't true. I subsequently deleted the feeds. You're free to do the same hellonorman.
Consequently, shouldn't you be on the TWIT forums if you love those shows so much? My bad, you have to pay for those. Yep, Leo and friends don't care what you have to say unless you're coughing up $2 a month. Still, it's a small price to pay to support your Windows Weekly podcast,

I'll back you up too, Pat. The recent negativity in this forum is really getting me down. I'm developing a theory that hellonorman may be Andy Ihnatko.
Seriously, though what is it going to take for this childish bitching about Linux in a forum about Linux to stop? It's not constructive.
Dann shouldn't have to log IP addresses and mod the forum like some kind of KGB officer.
So, what's the deal, hellonorman? Are you here to talk about Linux or bitch about Pat trying to contribute?

DUDE WTF.... this is not just linux bashing this week we been talking about this issue for around 3 months on the show (if you ever listen to it). There are just too many linux ignorance in that twit network. They want to be fair and balance but they will be the first to admit that they are linux ignorants and since they never talk about the community it sounds like they are not even in this side of the fence.
In other words, they are just fanboys, not really geeks. They think they are because they spend money on blinking lights. But really when was the first time you heard about setting up something that was not design for it on the first place. They are just end users in the end. Their thought process is so used to consumers that they can't think that this open source was meant to be open to modify.

Wow. Just wow.
I challenge everyone to listen to windows weekly 18 and macbreak weekly 55. Not even the whole thing just the segments that Pat poached clips from. In the macbreak segment there was much more said than just the comments that Pat poached and there were also other members of the show that debated some of the points. In the windows weekly segment there was also much more said.
Let's also keep in mind that the windows weekly was from March 2007 and the macbreak show was from August 2007. I challenge you to go to the twit site and see for yourself what it takes just to get to the right pages to download shows over a year old. What miracle would allow you to magically randomly find those two shows to poach clips from? Especially considering that neither show talks about linux or open source very much at all.
After you listen to those segments in whole ask yourself why would Pat want so badly for Dann to play them uninterrupted in the spliced together order he had them in. Why would the title of this thread get changed from "...Dann ruined your segment..." to "Twit Linux Haters..."? Why would Pat choose year old shows to look for clips in to back up his claim?
P.S.
Bugz you can actually get into the twit forums for a single donation of $1 if you don't feel that is trying to bleed you dry. You're free to do that if you want.

Because listening to all the clips paints a pretty interesting picture. I don't know if you realize it or not but we do minimal preparations for shows.
hellonorman wrote:

So people could more easily find the file of the audio clips. Take your tin foil hat off for a minute and maybe you'll see there's no conspiracy.
hellonorman wrote:

I just grabbed a couple old shows. It just proves that they've been bashing on Linux and F/OSS in general for a long time. Do they do it did every single episode? Probably not. Anybody could go listen to their back catalog of old episodes and probably find many many more instances of this. Anybody is free to do just that.
I've made my point and I'm ready to move on to better and more interesting topics. Obviously I've hit a raw nerve here as this and the original thread just keep on going day after day. If nobody cares the thread will drop down and be forgotten. It's clear that some people want to keep talking about this.

Yes it paints a picture of linux hate where it doesn't exist.

No conspiracy. Just debunking one persons silly claims.

Anyone that goes to the twit site and navigates through the clicks and pages required to reach THOSE two shows can plainly see that you didn't "just grab" a couple of old shows. Anyone that listens to those segments in full will see that what you poached was not an accurate representation of the conversations and that it doesn't prove what you tried to make it prove.

Again, your opinion.

You call it poaching, I call it gathering. Again people can go back to the source and make up their own minds. They can also go back and find more instances of this type of bashing. I'm sure there's more.
