Where are the speakers located on the Aspire One? How good or bad is the the speaker quality? How loud is it? I like to use my notebook to show short video clips of friends and family at social gatherings by passing it around. Some notebooks have speakers that are so bad and so low that it makes them pretty much unusable for this. I don't expect great sound from little notebook speakers, but it's important to me that they are at least loud and clear enough to hear easily.

Just bumping this. I'm really curious about the quality and volume of the Aspire One speakers. Could Allan, Chess, or anybody with one of these comment? Thanks.

The speakers are located at the underside at the front of the laptop pointing down. The speakers are mounted about the same distance in as the mouse pad and the left speaker is under the 'house' (windows) key and the right is under the right ctrl key. They actually give a reasonably good volume epically is placed on a hard surface like a table. The audio quality is better than I expected; say in the range of FM radio or very cheap radio/cd player.

They seem loud enough - at least loud enough to wake up my children upstairs. Gotta go.

I would agree with Ken. I can't tell if it's one speaker or two, but they are acceptable, if a little tinny, to me given the size of the machine and it's intended use. They are not great speakers or anything like that, but acceptable.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like it'll suit my purposes. I just may wait for the 6 cell 160 GB 1 GB RAM $399 version that was just announced to come out before I buy.

All the reports I have read seem to indicate the 6 cell, 160GB HD version is Windows XP only.

I have one.

My view of the Acer one A150L. For those interested

Good:
keyboard
newbie interface
large 120gb hd
1gb ram
compiz out the box if you want it
touch pad with buttons on each side
quality feel
price
size
easy to add extra fedora repository's and apps
Linux installed by default

Bad:
newbie interface
battery life ( 2 hours )
size
I've not figured out bluetooth yet?

The battery life is by far the worst thing on an other wise great umpc laptop. Larger battery's are in the pipe. Poor bits, Speakers tinny and not so loud, battery only 2 hours or so.
