Challenge accepted. Go to listen to both of those segments in their entirety. You will hear more than once praise for linux.

You will hear two people tell Andy Ihnatko that his statements are wrong. You will hear Paul Thurotte say good things about linux as well.

But then you didn't listen to those segments before calling me a troll now did you.

Strung together clips of Andy Ihnatko leaving out two other people telling him he was wrong.
Strung together clips of Andy Ihnatko leaving out parts where he also says good things about open source.

You claim that the twit network is linux haters and manufacture misleading support.

You said that you played that audio because it makes you mad and if they don't stop you won't listen anymore and also say that you don't listen to begin with.

I listen to both shows when originally aired. And none of those were linux praise. They were just acomodating the nature of open source. However none of them were really praise....troll

After listening to both shows again, I still think that they exhibit sufficiently offensive ignorance to merit criticism. What bothers me about Andy Ihnotko is not so much that he bashes Linux, but that he goes miles out of his way to be a dick about it. Whether others on the show disagree with him is irrelevant; Pat is right to call him out for his dickitude. As for Paul Thurrott, his claim that Linux doesn't innovate is just factually wrong. Whatever concessions he makes to Linux later doesn't mean Pat is wrong for sending out a douchebag alert. I do think Leo has managed to maintain enough impartiality that I wouldn't slam him, though.

I agree with a lot of this. Another thing to consider, Andy is an overjoyed cameraman. I've heard him before on This Week in Media. Since when were camera people technologists? I don't value his opinion very much from a technical point of view. Alex Lindsey on the other hand, seems a bit more adept when it comes to the technical skills. This is not bashing Andy, I just don't look to him for an opinion. There is nothing wrong with not wanting to take technical advice from someone who doesn't know what they are doing. There is also nothing wrong with making it abundantly clear when an end user gets arrogant and acts like his technical advice is worthwhile.

I agree. Reasonable people can have a discussion about Andy Ihnotko's statements in that episode.

If you claim that the twit network is linux bashers and that the clips you are playing are the tip of the iceburg then it sure as hell is very relevant whether Merlin Mann and Leo outright challenged his statements.

Pat didn't just call him out for HIS dickitude. He claimed a truth about the entire network and used shady tactics, that I've demonstrated already, to back up that claim.

I am calling out Pat's dickitude and I've backed it up with the truth.

I've claimed that the clips are indicative of a common practice of bad mouthing Linux and F/OSS in the general "mainstream tech press". TWIT falls into that category. I've demonstrated this by playing clips from 2 episodes of different shows with minimal effort. I am SURE there are many more instances of such bashing.
