Blu Ray for backend

Has anybody fiited a Blu Rray drive to their dedicated Backend. How did it work out?
0.25 is supposed to fully support Blu Ray straight from disk. So if i had a Blu Ray drive
in my backend could i watch it on either of my fronends?
Could this be a better option than a stand alone player which would only serve one room?
