I was just recently upgrading an Arch box here in the house and it downloaded and installed Gnome 3 to my surprise.
After installing the new gnome-desktop... It actually is not bad!
I'm kinda liking it and my wife actually likes it beter!
Still, I'm still a Gnome 2 crudgemudgin.....

It's grown on me as well. I had played with it during the alpha stages and I believed it had potential. It still does, without a doubt, and it's vastly improved from when I first used it, but there are still some rough edges. This doesn't surprise me, and I'm sure that they'll polish it up some more in the upcoming versions. Gonna be using it on my netbook once I get Fedora 15 installed on it.

Cool. For a moment there, I thought I was the only one besides my wife that even tolerated it.

I'm liking it on my Arch install on my laptop. Better than Unity.

Well, a bit of an update since 3.2 is the current version out. I've tried to like it as much as possible, really I did. However, I still find that it gets in my way of doing things. Because of this, I've moved over to Xfce for GTK-based desktop love. I still use KDE from time to time, but it can be quite heavy compared to Xfce. Maybe Cinnamon may turn the tide for me.
