I've tried Arch several times and quite liked it once it was up and running. I just couldn't take the system breakage. You really need to upgrade often in order minimize system turmoil. Also, I experienced too many packages that were corrupt on the mirrors and would not install. I think its a great ...

I've also recently switched to Debian Etch at work and it is really nice. I've tried Debian several times before, but never really stuck with it (always ran back to Slackware.) As far as slimming down KDE, I've always tried to turn off as much of the animation things as possible (like when moving wi...

Agreed. As a professional software engineer I can't really buy into his argument regarding non-free programming being morally wrong. I don't want to look for a different profession if I can't be paid to write free software. That is nonsensical IMHO. I mean I'm a big proponent of open source and use ...

Thank you!

I'd also like to hear his comments on other distros out there: What they do well, what they don't too that well, etc. Does he mess around with any other distros to get a feel for what other people are doing?, etc...

My questions would be more off Slack: What do you do when you're not working on Slack? What is your take on some of the popular distros of the day? What kind of beer ...
