Re: FLOSS Weekly Ogg feed

Check the spreadsheet linked from twit.tv/floss of upcoming guests. If you have a suggestion, email me the email address of the person you want on, and I'll add them to the list. Now that Jono Bacon is co-hosting, if the show is more about Linux, i'll probably schedule it when he can be on.

Re: Taking Linux advocacy to the "mainstream" tech press

Looks like it requires a lot of tools I don't have, and would use only for this task. Jiffy Lube is still the best. :)

Re: Taking Linux advocacy to the "mainstream" tech press

Is it the case that the era of small projects is over? No, it's just at the same place it has always been. You have to be innovative and interesting and well-publicized with your better-than-average quality product. If you do that, you can give away your core product as source, and provide customiz...

Hey, if the Daily Giz Wiz can do 600 different "gadget of the day" podcasts so far, there's no way I'm repeating a topic in the first 50 episodes of FLOSS! :)

Re: How to get more Linux on TWiT

But here's a real world example. Our office of 15 or so people switched to using Firefox (on XP) about 2 or 3 years ago. For web browsing, it's all we run. However no one, NO ONE, has a clue that it is free (as in speech) software. NO ONE has a clue what the hell free software is, nevermind the con...

Re: How to get more Linux on TWiT

Randall - if you're reading this post, please consider a reversal of episode 9, ie. You interview Chris-de-Bona. Since that's what episode 1 essentially was, I'm not interested in doing that. Leo interviewed Chris to start the series. However, a good topic might be about how code.google.com works (...

How to get more Linux on TWiT

A few constructive suggestions: Take an existing Linux podcast, or create a new one, and pitch it to Leo (leo@twit.tv). Leo doesn't have a lot of room left in his recording schedule, but the first step is to have an experienced producer that can schedule guests and help produce the overall content. ...

Re: Taking Linux advocacy to the "mainstream" tech press

Now I'd like to get your opinions on how we can further the cause of FLOSS in the mass media in a positive way ? First step - get the guys at LinuxCranks to stop making podcasts until they can grow up. As part of my research for this confrontation, I've forwarded the "LugRadio dies and Randal Lies"...

Re: Taking Linux advocacy to the "mainstream" tech press

I'm glad Randal has addressed the issue to us but I still believe that there are many TWiT listeners that have taken the comment to mean "Linux is not reliable enough to run on important stuff". Or, there's a third option. For someone to get offended by "I don't run Linux on anything important", th...

Re: Taking Linux advocacy to the "mainstream" tech press

I still take offence to the way the comment was delivered on the show. Especially in light of your comments above. There was contempt for Linux in how you made the comment. There is nothing wrong with having opinions and preferences in free and open software, but we shouldn't trash other free and o...
