Arm front ends.
Do not have a RPi yet, but I do have a Chumby (actually it is a Insignia inforcast) which is arm based. Looking at the arm packages and found the list below. Have not used arch, but I am tempted to learn it. Once I get Debian going on the Chumby that will be the next project. Anyone tried this yet? ...

Re: How Linux Greatly Changed my Life
We were able to use k12ltsp and save a boatload on hardware. I will put a better picture up later. Here are three diskless pxeboot compaq t30's being used as part of a set of thin clients connected to a 800 mhz amd server box running k12ltsp NO software was required to be loaded on the thin clients...

Re: answer to gnome3 / unity woes
Just installed f16 as a stock install, after wiping u10.04. Saw the g3 and it is a pain to navigate. Installed lxde (which you can also do to most any distro) and then made it the default. Still have some tweaking to do, but it works great with the server including mt-daapd. It also works great with...

Re: Roku HD
Almost bought one of the older versions to do that. You can get a thin client for about the same price. Mythtv has a module add-on to boot thin clients. Then you have a real computer that can do so much more for the buck.

Arduino.
If you want to use the Arduino with Ubuntu I seriously recommend you look at this page.

Update: No longer using ubuntu. (server or desktop) Still use Debian also. Install of the Arduino on fedora was a piece of cake.

Re: Apparently I'm stupid and I need to setup my backend
Sort of had the same trouble, but quickly realized that an analog card was in the setup. Had to setup the digital card also. Viola everything was ok. There is another quirk in what kind of stations you want it to survey. Had to change that setting also for OTA. Not near the system now to tell you ex...

Text it.
Recently put Debian Squeeze (with grub2) on an old dell g1 (333mhz with 256 megs ram). Anyway although I am an amateur at the command line. I set up a text only machine with no gui. Love it when Linc talks about his tricks with the command line. Mutt will be installed on it. Increased the screen res...
