My personal feeling is that if they do not do anything to stop a person from connecting then it should be legal for me to use. To get on to the public net. I see wireless like sidewalks. A lot of them are on private land. And more then likely placed there for the owners ease of use. If there is no ...

just get the windoze wireless card driver, load up ndiswrapper, and you'r good to go. google ndiswrapper if you don't know how to use it. Most livecd's I've seen have ndiswrapper support.

You are absolutely right, unknowingly "stealing" wireless should not be a crime. It is just hard to ascertain whether or not someone knew they were doing it, so it is best to just make it illegal and let the courts sort it out. EDIT: oh, and your neighbor's an idiot, that's all I was trying to point...

Re: I agree judland's blog

if you are doing something or taking something from an owner a tangible product without their consent then you are in my book stealing. In this case you can't see the tangible product but the owner is paying for bandwidth so you are stealing his bandwidth. I am lazy in that I only use mac filtering...

Yeah, the native Linux things will give you extra goodies, like monitoring and statistics...and I hear they are needed if you plan on cracking any wireless encryption  I have also heard that the Prism 2.5 chipsets are the best for Linux. If I were going to buy another wireless card, I would de...

Well, whatever floats your boat. Oh, and by the way, almost every wireless card works on Linux. If they don't work natively in Linux, you can use ndiswrapper to use a windoze xp driver, which has saved me in the past.

If you have an old p1 or p2 lying around, I highly suggest using that. Buy a few NICs for like $2 a piece, a wifi NIC for like $10, and hook it up. You won't be able to plug and play, but there are some really nice advantages to using a regular computer for a router: You can run dns caching and/or a...

You guys have to also realize that the RIAA is cashing in on this piracy thing. Okay, they aren't making as much money as they would be if everyone that was on p2p bought every song they download, this I concede. However, not many of these people will buy the song with DRM if that is their only opti...

Well, that site is definitely illegal. I mean, the beatles don't license like that, but yet all their stuff is on that site...makes one wonder. I am so fed up with the RIAA that I really don't even want to buy or download any corporately-funded music anymore. I just hope more artists keep releasing ...

I don't know what schoolhouse you attended, but the elementary school I went to comprised 1st through 6th grade. I was taught t...

Man, I would love to get used to one of those keyboards, but I don't want to have to buy one for home and work. Have you gotten noticeably faster with it?

http://www.emusic.com They don't have major labels, but iTunes really doesn't have that great of a selection either. Other than that, there is the "burn disc, then re-rip" method, which might be able to be done virtually in windoze via nero -> img file -> mounted in daemon tools -> ripped by someth...

Is what the kids did wrong? Yes. Is it equal to murder, kidnapping? NO Can you ever secure a laptop? NO To me this school had no business giving out laptops and having everyone sign an agreement. I as a parent would of never signed it. This isn't a fricken paranoid corporation. This is school where...

Please do! I would be very interested to know if it handles ogg well or not. I see it comes with some kind of case, which is a big concern of mine. I exclusively use flash players for jogging, and if it doesn't have a decent armband, I'm reticent toward the idea of fashioning one for it.
