Re: Cowon S9

I highly recommend the Cowon S9. Got it the first day the 32GB was released and I love it. Light as all hell, screen is beautiful, plays with Linux as well as all Cowon players, bluetooth works great. Only thing I've had a problem with is the protective glass cracked. The glass is supposed to be ver...

Re: Fedora 11 install is a fail

I have installed Fedora 11 on my laptop and media-center and both worked great, however I did do the KDE install so maybe that made the difference. Very polished and nice distro. Have had a little trouble with PulseAudio though.

Re: Oracle to buy Sun in $7.4 billion deal

MySQL could always fork, and we have PostgreSQL anyways which from what I hear has more features anyways.

Re: RAID

Thanks for all the info, I ended up going for a 3ware 9650SE-4LPML RAID controller because it was on sale. Works great with my 4 750gb wd harddrives. I definitely recommend this card, it was pretty easy to setup in the bios and the web interface in linux is pretty cool. :)

Re: PHP and security

Django has some nice SQL Injection prevention functions. You can visit http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/PHP_Programming/SQL_Injection for some information on how to prevent this in PHP. Base rule in PHP is NEVER trust anything that comes from $_POST or $_GET or $_COOKIE. Even if you have some informatio...

RAID

Hello all, I am looking into building a media center/torrent server/gaming machine and hooking it up to my 46" 1080p hdtv. I really would like to start with 3 WesternDigital 750GB Caviar's in a RAID 5 and then be able to put in another one in a couple months. I would like to duel boot as well so i c...

Re: Window lovers out the closet NOW !

I use Windows XP for work in VirtualBox and I have a dualboot as well for those few times when I play games or need to VPN.

I use my Linux install 90% of the time and I know Microsoft didn't get my money so I feel pretty good about it. ;)

Re: KDE 4.0 verdicts

For previous SuSE Live KDE 4 cds it is pretty nice, although there where some annoying bugs. Most were with plasma and Im sure some were caused by the distro not being correctly tweaked to run it. I haven't tried 4.0.0 yet, I will probably grab the latest Kubuntu Hardy release and try running KDE 4....

Re: Rockbox, supporting Ogg Vorbis

Yeah, I received the iPod for opening a checking account, otherwise it probably wouldn't have been my choice. I must admit that I like its user interface on the Mini, though. But judging by the quality of the sound I experienced this morning with my ogg files, I'll be sticking with it. Have you bee...

Re: Rockbox, supporting Ogg Vorbis

Yeah, I have used it on my iAudio X5L and then it broke and I was able to get a broken Gigabeat F40 off ebay for $50 and put Rockbox on it, works great. Even though you could put Rockbox on an iPod I still avoid it just due to personal hatred toward them...but that's just me. Still not sure what my ...

Once the ALPM patches are merged into the kernel I think we will be in the lead ( http://www.lesswatts.org/results/desktop/index.php ) Also this is just Ubuntu's default configuration, you can probably tweak some settings and get it down with the help of powertop. I'm sure the desktop search is taki...

Agnostic. I mean seriously, no one REALLY knows. You can convince yourself into thinking you know(or your mind tricking you, such as a dream where "God" has spoken to you, which you can't prove was real) but until you can prove it, it's only a belief. No one is really sure about anything. It is jus...

Personally I am an athiest. I don't want anyone but my own beliefs projected upon myself. I decide for myself what I consider ethical no matter what any 'god' thinks I should believe in. I believe this quote sums up my thoughts: A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, educa...

Yes I really like Krita as well. I think the interface is very nice and by the way things look, Krita 2 is going to be very promising.
