Re: OpenSUSE Beta Can Brick Intel e1000e Network Cards

It looks like this is a 2.6.27 kernel problem not a OpenSuse problem. Use beta software with care!

Bob was arguably the worst product Microsoft ever put out.

Microsoft Post Windows OS Midori

Competition breeds innovation, MS is thinking outside the box. I don't expect too much though, anybody remember Bob?

Tax Rebate Choices

Last week I spent much time trying to figure how to spend my tax rebate. EEE or HP mini-note? I just couldn’t decide, both have pluses & minuses. The EEE is proven but has no hard drive. The HP has a hard drive but a troublesome Broadcom wireless card as well and is not proven. Both have VIA hardwar...

Linux compatable SATA HDD Docking Station

Just bought a cool little product that works w/linux "out of the box". It is the Thermallake 2.5/3.5 inch SATA Docking Station. A base unit that you insert a 2.5 or 3.5 in bare SATA HD into (like a 8 track) and your computer can then use the drive like any external USB memory device. Found it on the...

Nokia Phone & N800 have common charger

Got a new Nokia phone last week and to my surprise it has the same charger as the N800. Nice feature (or oversite) I hate having so many different chargers for my tech toys.

Dann wrote "While I like and use kget, I can't say it's ever made its way into my "must have list." What feature of kget do you find indispensable?"

Kget has always just worked for me and I use it a lot. It also works really well as the download manager for Konqueror.

Wonder if you used sarge repositories it would spare you the messages...I don't believe Xandros is know for being on the cutting edge. If Kget was on my N800 life would be good!

It never helps to be mean & nasty

While at work I am stuck using Windows and IE, just like the majority of worker drones out there. Tried to read a Linux story linked from OS News, as a longtime Linux user I got a kick out of the error message "This site does not support Internet Explorer 7.0 or below. Have a nice day !". Whatever...

I am a bit weird by Linux standards, I like Debian because it has a long release cycle. Debian Stable is stable. This is because Debian does not feel it neccessary to come out with a half baked product every 6 months. Debian also has good documentation but maybe not as good as Gentoo.
