Linux loses desktop war

Slackware Packages by dann

gcompres-0.7.1

My first slackware package. Gcompris-0.7.1. This is a kids program ages <3 to get them acquainted with the mouse. It requires gnome to run, but not that you need to be using gnome as your desktop environment. It runs perfectly fine under windowmaker.

gcompris.tgz

wmakerconf-2.8.1

This package was compiled on slack 8 without libwmfun support. Even though I created a libwmfun package and installed it, I just could not get wmakerconf to use or find libwmfun.
wmakerconf.tgz

libwmfun-0.0.4

Here is that damned packaged created on slack 8.0. It's there and ldconfig does not complain.

libwmfun.tgz

quanta-2.0.pre1

Quanta is an html development tool which support php scripting for the kde environment. It was built on slack 8.0. I was not able to successfully build the prelease 2. This is the second attempt at creating this package. The first did not work out like I thought it would. I have moved the files to /opt/kde to see if this will make a difference. I know this breaks the rules.

xmame-54.1

The popular MAME program for X. Make note, this software is not under the GNU/GPL. Furthermore, it is for educational purposes only. Use of roms of which you do not own is a violation of software license. I am in no way responsible for you illegally using this software. Furthermore, I make no warranty or gaurantee anything with this package. Use at your own risk. By downloading the file you assume all responsibility. I also include the source code as a seperate download, again, for the purposes of education.

Please consult the documentation under /usr/doc/xmame-0.54.1 for information on how to use mame and what you need to do before using mame. See the dannreadme file first.

Finally, the package installs under /usr/local which is a violation of the rules for package making. You have been warned.

xmame.tgz
xmame-0.54.1.tar.bz2

gmame.0.1

The gmame package is a gnome frontend for Xmame. Again, this is not GPL software that I am aware of, but it works. It is installed in /usr/local (a no-no) and you must create a symbolic link to a file for it to work. See the docs in /usr/doc/gmame-0.1 to get it running.

gmame.tgz

tuxnes-0.75

Tuxnes is a nintendo emulator. Runs pretty well, too.

tuxnes.tgz

gtuxnes-0.75

Gtuxnes is a frontend for tuxnes and makes running the roms extremely easy.

gtuxnes.tgz

SDL-1.2.2

The SDL-1.2.2 package. 'Nuff said. I recompiled it on my own when certain games were not working only to find out that it was not the SDL, but the aureal drivers. Aureal 1.1.2 does not work with SDL, hence no sound in Unread Tournament. For starters, if you want to compile the Aureal Drivers 1.1.1 for kernel 2.4.x, you need to add this line to the au_vortex.h file:

#define get_user_ret(x,ptr,ret) ({if (get_user(x,ptr)) return ret; })
Now with that out of the way, here is the package:
sdl.tgz

dia-0.88.1

Dia, the opensource equivalent of visio for the gtk enviornment. This is the latest stable as of October 1, 2001. I compiled the package with gnome, gnome-print, and python support.

dia.tgz

Pharmacy-0.3

Pharmacy is a gnome based client frontend for cvs. HooHa!

pharmacy.tgz

Checkinstall-1.4.1

The installwatch package which is very useful for creating slack packages or just logs of where programs install themselves.

checkinstall.tgz

bladeenc-0.94.2

Bladeenc is an mp3 encoder that works from the command line. For more information read the manual located in /usr/doc/bladeenc-0.94.2.

bladeenc.tgz

Fly-1.6.5

Fly is a program to generate graphs from input files. Read the docs included for a tutorial.

fly.tgz

Ploticus-200

Ploticus is another command line driven utility for generating attractive graphs. Read the docs included for a tutorial. Included is the test files.

ploticus.tgz

Nethack: Falcon's Eye 1.9.3

This is a slick, gui version of nethack. The game installs itself in /usr/games and the nethack directory is set to /usr/games/lib/nethack. Read the manual in /usr/doc/falconseye-1.9.3.

falconseye.tgz

Crossfire Client

Here is the crossfire client program. You can use this to connect to a crossfire server and play till your heart's content. There is a gtk-client out there so see the crossfire homepage crossfire.real-time.com and download the rpm of i386. Then use rpm2tgz to create a slack package. The server is also available at this site.

cfclient.tgz

Who knows what else will show up!!!

Tips:

Kylix: If kylix hangs when starting on the "generating font matrix" window, then delete this file:
($kylixdir)/bin/transdlg
Or, mv it to transdlg.old
