These articles are great -- thanks for sharing!
One idea for a good follow-up article is on how profiles are managed after
they are setup.
One example of bad usability design on a User Profile page is Yahoo's
Account Information page. While most of it is managed nicely, try figuring
out how to change your formal name (the one that gets passed down and
displayed on Yahoo Instant Messenger clients).
The first challenge is locating the Yahoo Account Information page --
starting from Yahoo.com. Once you've found the page, try changing the first
line for your Name.
It's not straight forward -- after 10-20 minutes of searching, I discovered
it was replicated in the Email Information. On a Laptop with 800x600 res,
the Email Information has to be scrolled into view. Editing the Email
Information changes the Yahoo ID "Name" and Email Information "Name".
Hmmmm.... If only there was an '[edit]' link next to the Name.
