I won't disagree with the statements that he hopefully has some
testing to back up his assertions as testability tends to be a
cornerstone of usability.
But as to his comparing print to the web... The comparisons I see
denote the differences between the two. In fact, the sites he says
have the better design are the ones farthest away from their print
counterparts (see msnbc), whereas the sites closest to physical
newspapers seem to be the ones he is most against.
I think Andy completely agrees with you, as evidenced in the following
quote. "Verbatim online mimicry of print media ignores vital
differences in medium." His point was that current sites are trying to
copy their print world brethren and about how that doesn't work very
well.
