I. Some doctypes are used by good developers and some are used by
naughty developers. Bad doctypes mean no Christmas presents.

II. So, you should use a good one(1) when you want Christmas presents.
If you don't want any presents, then use a bad doctype or none at all.

III. Quirks mode is a way for some browser companies to try to account
for past naughtiness. It's really a huge scheme to keep market share.
If someone goes to a site that looks screwy when they use your
browser, they'll use a different one that shows it right. So the
capitalistic browser companies decided to keep the proletariat down by
appeasing them with quirks mode.

(1) one of the XHTML ones preferably... but not the frameset one.
It'll put you in the naughty category.
