Not a stupid question, but hard to answer without knowing what you want.
The stuff you're doing should work well on any distro. Just depends on
how much work you want to do and how much you want to learn.
Years ago I had to decide if I wanted to stick with Fedora on my server
or move to something more stable. It was valuable to me to stick to
something similar (like CentOS) but speed was also important. At the
same time I was intrigued about the idea of running something new in
order to learn more. I rated various distros on several characteristics
and added up the numbers. I did a blog post about it if you're

It's out of date, of course, but you get the idea.
Personally I'd suggest Debian. It's stable, it's different than Fedora
and it just works (except when it doesn't).
