The last public version of Android was m5. Technically, m5 does run on
the n8xx but, since it relies on compressed (hardware?) graphics, the
user interface is so slow as to be unusable. The Nokia devs have stated
that there will be no support for the compressed graphics in hardware or
software.
You can run the m5 kernel with the m3 userspace (which is what I was
doing) but the m5 userspace has all the cool stuff, particularly with
maps and GPS.
