I started doing some work on Android in my n810.  I rather liked the
whole ecosystem (Eclipse, Android, GPS, etc.) but then Google "Went
dark" with Android and, in addition, Android is probably dead on the
n8xx series. :-(

I hadn't thought to write my app in Python.  I'll have to check out how
Pythn supports the hardware.  I'm most interested in writing
location-based apps.
