[Lvlug] Internet Connection Sharing, Desktop (F7,
eth0) to Laptop (WinXP, Wireless)?

Hello all, I'm having a networking issue and I hope you can help me. For
some reason I just can't get this to work. I have a fedora 7 desktop and a
winxp laptop, and I'm trying to get the desktop to pass internet traffic
through the laptop via ethernet, and have the laptop pass that information
to a wireless network via its pcmcia wireless network adapter. Here's how
everything is set up. I can't physically connect my linux box to the
network due to where it's located in the house. I could buy a wireless
access card for the desktop, but I want to use what I have before I add to
Stuff I can't control
[Internet -> Cable Modem -> Linksys Wireless Router]
Internet is hard wired to cable modem, cable modem is hard wired to wireless
router. Wireless router's settings are default, however minimally secured.
No encryption, but the default router's password has been changed. I don't
believe I would need to change anything on this end, because connecting to
the wireless router does work, if it didn't then I wouldn't be able to post
Stuff I can control
[WinXP Laptop -> Belkin Wireless Router -> Fedora 7 Desktop]
The WinXP Laptop connects to the Linksys Wireless Router through a netgear
wireless pcmcia card. The Laptop is hard wired to the Belkin Router through
a separate integrated ethernet port. And the Fedora Desktop is hard wired to
the router on eth0.
I have been trying to get this Desktop online for quite some time, I have
tried Internet Connection Sharing, and have not gotten any positive results.
I have also tried creating a network bridge between the Local Area
Connection and the Wireless Connection, however this resulted in my wireless
connection being dropped completely. I know that the Fedora Desktop and the
WinXP Laptop are networked together as I have been able to share files
between the two, I just can't seem to get internet traffic to pass through.
I'm 99% sure that the Linksys router's internal IP is 192.168.1.1, so I set
up everything else accordingly. My router is 192.168.1.2, my laptop's
pcmcia is automagically set via dhcp to the linksys router, and it's
ethernet is 192.168.1.30, and the desktop is 192.168.1.20.
I set them a little higher because I wanted to make sure that there is no
way an IP conflict could happen. This network will never have more then 3
other computers on at any given time. Ideally I will have a whole network
storage device, print server, file sharing, and media sharing system set up
and accessible around the property, but the first step is getting everything
connected to the internet first.
Please please please help me troubleshoot this, my head hurts .
