[Lvlug] Help with thunderbird pop3 deleted email

I use a pop3 email service and I usually access by 
webmail.
I was trying thunderbird and could have sworn I set "leave 
messages on server" I connected, got the messages ad to 
save space deleted them on disk.
I used a webmail interface and saw all the messages I 
normally save in the inbox were gone!
There is a local file in my profile called inbox that has 
all my messages that were pulled off an deleted from my 
pop3 server but Tbird won't display them. How can i get 
them to open so I can put them back up on a pop3 server?
