OK, I've completed all my procrastinating, the holidays are over and I know
that you haven't forgotten my offer to teach a class on Embedded Development
using Open Source tools and the Arduino (http://www.arduino.cc) physical
computing platform.
So, here's the deal: The class will be $50 per person and if you plan on
attending then send in your money before the 23rd of February. The cost
break down is as follows: $31.95 +shipping for the Arduino board and the
remainder will be used for purchasing the parts you will need for building
and testing different sketches. If we order 10 or more then Sparkfun
Electronics http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=666
will drop the cost of the Arduino to $28.76 and you will receive a $3.19
refund.
On February 24th I will place the order for the Arduino's. Once I have parts
in hand we will schedule the classes. Should you decide not to send in your
money you are still welcome to join us so long as you arrive with Arduino
in-hand. You will also need to bring $15 to the first class to offset the
cost of parts and supplies.
Additionally, a Mac OS X, Linux or Windows computer with USB will be required
for class.
We will be using the courseware from http://todbot.com/blog/spookyarduino/ for
the classes.
I know that I've left out a lot of information so please don't hesitate if you
have any questions.
And finally, part of the reason I procrastinated for so long is that I no
longer have a laptop. If nothing changes between now and the start of class
I will have to teach while leaning over someone's shoulder. It's not what I
would normally choose to do.
Anyway, expect to have fun while learning and I hope that you will choose to
attend even if you have only the smallest spark of interest in computers and
electronics.
