Comprehensive Mathematics for Computer Scientists might be a winner
for Faber. It's right up my alley, if not his, anyway: concise,
illustrated (yes, yes, pictures help me...), and not overly bogged
down in theory for my tastes. A little clarification of terms helps at
some points, but, fortunately, the Wolfram site and Wikipedia help a
lot.
