Yes.
The quality is as good or almost as good as a normal pots connection, 
the price is $10 a month for unlimited in state calling and only 3.9 
cents/min for out of state, and the gadgets are wickedly cool.  Aside 
from easilly running a software phone client, I also got a VOIP Systems 
MTA-102 2-line sip adapter from a friend for only $35.  This allows me 
to hook 2 regular telephones to my asterisk box each on their own 
extensions, not including any extensions I have set up for software 
clients.  So now I have a full PBX system in my house with different 
extensions for different phones, extension to extension calling, voice 
mail boxes for each (if I like), inbound and outbound VOIP phone 
service, wake up calls, local weather reports, music on hold, call 
transfering, and a myriad of other nifty things I have only begun to 
explore!
Looking around on people's websites I see people doing things like 
having a door phone which rings only internal home extensions and is 
wired to electronic door latches, extensions that forward to other 
peoples asterisk systems, etc, etc..  Like I said, this is pretty cool.
