[Lvlug] no ppp0?

I'm trying to connect to a MS VPN using PPTP.  I can connect to it from
Windows with no problem.  

I've installed PPTP-client and all the sundry RPMs.  The ppp modules get
loaded, everything looks fine, but I never connect.  I think the reason
is I never see ppp0 in ifconfig.  

I can't figure out how to get ppp0 to appear.  Since I don't have a
modem, I can't test a traditional PPP connection since PPP can't find a
modem.

A buddy of mine said that he just followed the directions over at
http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/#overview.  He's using Debian and I'm
on FC3.

Any suggestions?
