[Lvlug] Emacs: Black Text on White Background, Courier 12 Pt. Font

You already posted that you found a solution via the .emacs file, but
I solved the same problem by editing my .Xdefaulst (.Xresources).  I
added the following to it
   emacs*background: white
you can, of course, set numerous other features of emacs this way.
