That was the point actually, which is why I digressed to explain all the
geek stuff. A bunch of the community members were clamoring for a thing
like this actually.

I can certainly agree with the point about normally using distro
kernels, unless you need a driver or something. I had to do it earlier
because of a fart in ALSA's development that rendered my cheesy on-board
Via useless with stock drivers. It's fun to be running kernel
2.6.12.3-hanuman though.
