First, for your information, KDE doesn't have to do with hardware support.
It is strictly a graphical user interface (GUI).

I never had a Lexar card reader like the one you are talking about, and it
would be very hard for me to diagnose your problem without being there.
However, it seems like the card media is actually corrupted.

Have you considered buying a USB flash drive? Lexar makes them too. And
the great thing is: they plug directly into a USB port and work almost
anywhere...no need for a special card reader.
