Yeah!  Go for it!  Backups be damned!  That sucker may give you years of 
  perfect performance.  You may have to take it out and slap it around a 
bit to get rid of the clicking.  If an open hand does not do it, give it 
a knuckle sandwich.

Seriously though, make those backups.  I speak from experience, twice in 
the last three months.

On a side note; we used to take out the hard drives on the older Apples 
(7500+ series) and smack them around when they would not boot.  This did 
the trick!
