You forgot, 
   ...if you want automatic data corruption (enabled by default).

In my opinion, magic_quotes_gpc (enabled by default) puts PHP in the same
family of languages as intercal, i.e. joke languages. Auto-munging data is
only a very small step removed from providing percent probability of
execution per line, in my book.

And if PHP is only meant for doing database wrappers, then it should be
called "Database Wrapper Language", to warn people off of using it like a
general purpose programming language.
