[Lvlug] Perl Tutorial (was: Blog off to a...uh...Start)

I would love to have a "perl through a firehose"
night. I have never used perl, so I have felt that the
perlmongers thing would be over my head.
I have done some php, so a brief comparison would be
good. Also, ways to replace php's use in certain cases
might help people make a connection.
I would also like to see how I could use it
administratively where a bash script might be too
unwieldy or not appropriate.
