Okay, the honey pot is ready. The OS is Fedora Core 2. I did a server
and office workstation install and then added some developmental stuff
when I intended to patch the kernel. The kernel running now is not
patched against the code exploit.
There are two user accounts including root. I do not know who these
accounts are nor do I know any passwords. All users names and passwords
are in a folded piece of paper that is stapled shut in a drawer in my
office. The wife set all this up.
I will not cheat, you have my word.
Again, here are some ground rules:
1) Document what you do: If you crack the server I expect you to share
your progress with everyone. Be it a PDF, OO document, or web page.
2) Attack only the honey pot. Do not attack thelinuxlink.net or any
workstation inside my network. My network is not attached at all to the
honey pot.
3) Crack to destroy or deface: Do not use the honey pot to launch
attacks against anyone else. Doing so will ruin the fun for everyone
else as I will take the honey pot away.
Before I issue the ip a few more things:
I will put up a webpage regarding the Honeypot and make it available off
the lvlug site.
Do we want to use the mailing list to communicate back and forth or do
we should I create a forum? I'm for the latter as we can keep
everything about the honey pot in one place. Are there any cons against
this?
Finally, here is the IP address: 66.92.235.164.
