The installer should allow you to create your the swap partition during
the install process. It may drop you into partitioning the disk first,
and then activate the swap partition right away.
An aside, I have never seen an easier way to setup Samba than using SWAT.
Since SWAT should be included in all distros that have samba (may need to
enable it in /etc/inet.d or /etc/xinet.d. There is a SWAT plugin for
Webmin too!
With SWAT you can set that system up with slackware and be done with it!
