If it will help any, I've got a couple of perl scripts taht
automagically dial my modem whenever I get kicked off (every three
hours).  Also, I've got a script that renews the lease on my firewall
(which is needed since packet loss will shoot up to 80% for some reason
while I'm online).

If you're running Linux or have perl, you're welcome to them.
