Yes, that's correct.  The advantages are that the file system is self
contained and easilly recoverable.  The disadvanyage is that it's slower
(depending on cdrom, memory size and processor speed), and you can't save
your data.

My personal take on this is that it actually does run pretty well for a
general workstation application.  I use it that way myself occasionally.
What I really would like to try with this is to customize it a bit to use
and add a lighter windowmanager such as xfce, icewm or blackbox, and a
couple user accounts.  Add my personal network and DNS settings and it's
good to go.  Another really great use for a customized version would be a
firewall/router.  Perhaps a box with dual cdroms (1 a rewriter) which you
could actually host a website on.  Let a script kiddie try and hack a
website totally contained on a cdrom :-)
I am sure there are quite a few neat ideas for this sort of thing.  Anyone
else have some they would like to contribute?
