[Lvlug] verifying copied cd's

I had used the following to check burnt cd's dd if=/dev/cdrom
of=/dev/null  It is direct from suse's site when I had a bitch of a time
installing it on a sparc20.  Here is the link.

Is this a viable way also to check cd's?
