Perhaps I could, but I keep running into walls when using windows scripting
hosts.  Simple things, like hasing out a password and stuff.  There is a
whole level of simple things I wanted to do that would require using the
full blown visual basic. 

This is strictly bias, I believe, but scripting with windows requires a
whole different level of understanding.  Working with vb, and object
oriented language; in my opinion; is not as simple, nor elegant, as using
bash.  Piping output to other commands is not as apparent either.

So, to do a lot of the scripting I wanted to do required paying for a full
copy of VB.
