So did Linc.  Linc also likes the noticable speed difference he gains
while running the "roll your own" distro.

Like Linc.  Linc uses Danns packages.  They are easy to install and work
every single time which is more than I can say for
$corporate_distro_package.

See above again!  While I do like compiling my own stuff, there are indeed
many times I just do not have the time to do it.  I might need a
particular piece of software running right away to be able to meet some
client goal at work, or to squeeze in that extra 15 minutes of time on a
personal project before I fall asleep slobering on my keyboard at
night.  These are the times that I just don't have time to take half an
hour to track down missing libraries, create symbolic links, etc..
