Did Mandrake 8.1 install over Win98. Started with 4GB drive, large c:
partition plus small partition d: to hold image of Win install ... just in
case. Formatted FAT32 did minimal Win98 install, created image of drive on d:
Configured bios to boot CD, inserted Mandrake CD, selected recommended
install, DrakX Partitioning Wizard came up, resized Win98 partition,
continued with installation.
Works very nicely.
Dann have you considered doing the Linux install over Windows?
My TV card was even detected and configured and an icon for XawTV placed on
the KDE desktop ... just click and go. It almost works. Able to view video
through camcorder for a few minutes, then video corruption on the desktop
begins which finally locks up the machine. (wish ReiserFS or ext3 installed
by default) Either machine is not husky enough (P200 128MB) or it's my funky
Savage4 video card again. I'll keep playing.
