Okay, I did a test install of Mandrake on a Dell optiplex workstation. I
started at 11:54 and by 12:15 I was up and running with full sound and a
connection to the internet via my external modem.

I must say, the install was smooth as butter. There was only one glitch,
and that was my fault; I did not read close enough during the network
setup. I set the modem to connect during boot. I was able to change this
setting with little fuss through drakeconf.

Sound is working, but my speakers need batteries or an ac adapter. My
network card works great, but I have it disabled so it uses the modem for
internet connection (set dhcp so the default gw was initialized until I
disabled the interface).

All-in-all; I am very impressed with the install. I set up, but did not
test my printer. I don't feel like lugging it up here right now. Maybe
tomorrow.

I'll redo the install again this week, but add my scanner.

Tomorrow I'll burn the second disc, so hopefully xsane will be on there.
