Dann,
My setup is similar to yours. One side of my splitter goes to the TIVO which
then goes to a  4in/1out switch which then goes to the A/V jacks on the back on
the TV. This side also handles the DVD and game consoles. The other side of the
splitter goes to the VCR which then goes to the RF jacks of the TV.  The only
time I have to switch cables is if I've recorded something on TIVO that I would
like to save onto video tape. You should be able to use your switch either way
without problem (2in/1out or 1in/2out).
