Dan,

The layout of the logo looks good!

The star looks somewhat greenish on my monitor.  Would pure yellow look
better?

Has your wife looked at the colors?  

Do you want to have a "color the logo" contest?  You could start by
teaching people how to use the GIMP at the next meeting.  ;-)
