[Lvlug] My experience with an RCN cable modem

I've had my RCN cable modem up and running with no major problems. At
$19.95 a month it's definitely worth it. Granted it's a hybrid(cable -
download, external 56k - upload) but it works really well. The speeds
have been awesome. They even gave me a dial-up backup with Erols if the
network is down. The cheapest DSL I've seen is around $40 (not including
the DSL modem). They techies at RCN (officially) say they don't support
Linux but they admitted it to me last week at the computer show (at the
Allentown fairgrounds) that the RCN system is Unix based and works well
with Linux. Just my two cents!
