I don't have either, but I'd try cable first.
Go to www.dslreports.com and you can learn a lot.
If you get dsl, try to get it from Verizon. Otherwise you may have 3 companies pointing their fingers around when there is a problem: Verizon, Covad and an ISP. That is a support nightmare!
I've seen @home work great for 2 people in 2 different states and a friend who works at Lucent on Bluetooth is happy with RCN cable at home.
I've been waiting for Service Electric to get the fiber they need to get me a cable modem. I've been waiting for some rinkydink ISP to get me IDSL -- a low end DSL service. I've been waiting for months!
